Dr. Thampy
Dr. Kishore Julian Thampy is a 1970 graduate of the University of Navarra in Spain. He completed a one-year internship at Cook County Hospital, and a three-year psychiatric residency at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute, both in Chicago. In 1976 he obtained Certification in Psychiatry and in 1996 Certification in Forensic Psychiatry, by examination, from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently licensed in Medicine and Surgery in Iowa, Illinois, and Georgia. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Forensic Psychiatry, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the Jean Piaget Society.
In medical school he was instrumental in setting up the Asian Students Association to promote understanding of Eastern culture, and worked very closely with the Latin American and African student bodies. He continued this interest in promoting interest in minority affairs and Third World issues after immigrating to the United States in 1970. Primarily he has been an activist in the rights of immigrant professionals.
